太阳岛风景名胜区位于黑龙江省南部，坐落在哈尔滨市松花江北岸，东西长约十公里，南北宽约四公里，总面积38平方公里（西起规划四环高架路，东至滨洲铁路桥，北起改线前进堤，南至松花江主流北岸）与哈尔滨市区隔水相望。

这个岛盛产鳊花鱼，女真族鳊花鱼的发音为“太宜安”，这个岛当时就被称为“太宜安”，久传至今被称为太阳岛。太阳岛风景区中有草原广阔、坡地，河流小溪，各 种北方林木一应俱全，是湿地草原型风景区。四季的季象变化明显。
