黄崖关长城在蓟州区北28公里的崇山峻岭之中。历史上，蓟州城共有守营墩台十八座，黄崖关为其一，也是最为重要的关隘。始建于公元556年，明代名将戚继光任蓟镇总兵时，曾重新设计、包砖大修。黄崖关长城是明代蓟镇长城的重要关隘，也是境内唯一的一座关城。黄崖关城是明代蓟镇长城的重要关隘，也是县境内唯一的一座关城。关城东侧山崖的岩石多为黄褐色，每当夕阳映照，金碧辉煌，素有“晚照黄崖”之称，关城因此得名。
