峡谷全长四十多公里，峭峰顶立，最深处达三百九十八米，经有关专家完成的科学考查结果显示：南江峡谷地层古老，河谷深切，为典型的低中山峡谷地貌景观，十分壮丽优美。峡谷内有自然景观80余处，各种姿态瀑布40多条，位于小南江的奢香瀑布，落差达一百五十余米。公园景区现已开发十八点四公里，旅游者可顺江在碧玉般的江水中进行惊险刺激的漂流，也可漫步于峭壁栈道，浓荫小路，还可穿越典型的喀斯物原始森林。
