整个生态园蕴育在峡谷之中，占地600平方米，与之相对的斗篷山相传曾是夜郎王后继金竹司的住所。山顶上至今仍保留着古夜郎屯堡的遗址，夜郎谷也因此得名。“夜郎自大”的典故家喻户晓，在两千多年前秦汉时期出现的夜郎古国，与古楼兰国、古且兰国齐名，一时盛世，名扬天下。穿越历史神秘的隧道，夜郎文化至今魅力无穷。在贵州的一个夜郎谷，更是融汇了一个现代人对古夜郎的全部想像。这座集山、水、林、洞等自然景观于一体，兼容“古屯堡”、“爱鸟园”、石板房等人文景观在内的生态园林，是贵阳著名画家宋培伦经过独具匠心的构思和创意而完成的。漫步生态园中，随处可见体现创作者追求和初衷的景观。
